We just wrapped up a 4-day stay at the Amuna Ayurveda Wellness Retreat in Sigiriya, and honestly, it was exactly the reset we needed. The property is tucked away in the middle of nature, and the absolute silence out there is incredible.
Waking up early was actually worth it here because the sunrises over the trees were stunning every single morning. It’s the kind of place where you can just sit outside, listen to the birds, and forget about your phone for a while. 📵
The Ayurvedic treatments were a major highlight of the trip. 💆♂️ The therapists really knew what they were doing, and it felt amazing to work out the travel tension with their traditional techniques.
The food was another big win for us. 🍛 They serve authentic Sri Lankan dishes made with fresh local ingredients, and everything tasted super healthy but packed with flavor. It felt really good to eat clean, nourishing meals that fit perfectly with the whole wellness vibe of the place.
If you're traveling through Sri Lanka and need a genuine break from the usual tourist hustle, this place is definitely worth checking out. 🇱🇰 It doesn't feel like a cookie-cutter hotel; it feels like a real retreat. We left feeling totally refreshed and would absolutely come back the next time we're near Sigiriya.
After 4 nights staying here, I can say it's been a dream and I would love to come back one day. We had daily ayuvedic/wellness treatments which were incredible, the food is absolutely outstanding. 3x a day a big choice of freshly made Sri Lankan goodness.
As a Yogi I attend many yoga classes at home, but the pace of the Hatha Yoga Sessions at Amuna was perfect and exactly what we needed.
Finally our room (we stayed at the tree house) was super cool and the people at this place from the manager, the cook, the yoga teacher and to the security guards are sooooo kind. They truly try their best to give you a memorable stay. Thank you so much for having us! We truly loved this retreat experience.

Spending 4 days at Amuna Ayurveda Wellness Retreat felt like stepping into a hidden, peaceful eco-village. 🛖 If you're looking to completely escape the noise and just breathe, this is the spot. The silence here is so deep it’s actually therapeutic, and the surrounding nature is completely unspoiled.
My absolute favorite part of the day was catching those misty, golden sunrises—just taking a moment to soak in the jungle views before the rest of the world wakes up.
The wellness setup here is authentic and really focuses on a full mind-body reset. I had some amazing Ayurvedic treatments that helped me totally decompress and ease all my travel fatigue. 🌿
But what really tied the whole experience together was the food. They serve incredible traditional Sri Lankan cuisine that feels completely farm-to-table. Everything was super fresh, nutrient-dense, and packed with local spices. It felt great to eat meals that supported the healing process without sacrificing any of the flavor.
It’s rare to find a place that genuinely balances rustic nature with top-tier wellness care. We left feeling completely energized and aligned. Highly recommend checking it out! ✨

Our 5-night stay at Amuna Ayurveda & Wellness Retreat felt less like a hotel visit and more like a transformative journey. It was immediately clear that this is a special place. From the moment we stepped onto the lavish grounds, greeted by peacocks roaming freely, we felt a deep sense of peace. The facilities are pristine and all-new, and our bungalow was a total haven—especially the beds, which were incredibly comfortable and perfect for deep rest.
What truly warms the heart here is the people. Every single staff member, from the security guards at the gate to the cleaning personnel, was extremely friendly and accommodating, making us feel genuinely cared for. A heartfelt thank you also goes to Sunanda, the Resort Manager, who went above and beyond to help us explore the region, arranging seamless trips for us to Sigiriya and Polonnaruwa.
The days flowed in a blissful rhythm of healing. Dr. Hiroshimi and her wonderful team took amazing care of us, curating fantastic 90-minute Ayurveda treatments every day that were specifically tailored to our needs. We found perfect balance by joining the two daily yoga sessions and looked forward to every meal - the Ayurvedic breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus changed daily and were absolutely excellent. The service really made us feel at home. Although we could only stay for six days, we left feeling completely rejuvenated. We are already dreaming of the day we can return!
Overall I had a fantastic staying here! 👌🏻 I would come back again and recommend this place to others.
Positive points:
- A very calm and pieceful place where it’s located (besides the noises from the crickets 😆)
- The food is very delicious and prepared by 2 very friendly women. Also not too spicy. You taste that the food is prepared with their hearts. Keep preparing it on the wood!
- The treatments were also very relaxing. Vidgita massaged me very well.
- The staff is also very friendly and warm.
- There is plenty of water flowing in the bathroom and also warm enough.
- The yoga classes were challenging and nice. The instructor is also very helpful and kind.
Only thing is that there a lot of mosquitos in the shala. Be aware of this en use repellend.
Development points:
- The room smells very musty. Because of this, my clothes smelled musty too.
- The treatments after the massages could have been a bit more varied.
- The information stating what is included in the wellness package does not mention that you have to pay an entrance fee for the excursion. This became clear later during a conversation with the hostess. This should be stated more clearly.
- Vary more the wellness package by adding workshops on psychological topics, for example.
