Salon Chamya & Academy, Boralesgamuwa – Please think twice before choosing this salon for your bridal dressing. My sister-in-law’s wedding was on 29th May 2026. I waited until all the wedding events were over before writing this review because I wanted to share our experience honestly and make sure no other bride has to go through what we did. The bride was asked to come to the salon at 11.00pm the night before the wedding to start getting ready. However we had to wait outside until around 11.30pm till the stylist get ready and come out to open the door for us. Even though they were already late, the stylist left the salon several times for personal errands making us wait even longer. According to the schedule the bride was supposed to be ready by 5.00am. But she was only ready at around 5.45am. Because of this delay the couple lost almost one hour of their photoshoot. This is very unprofessional and don’t know what she did for more than 6 hours just to dress the bride. Another disappointing issue was with the bride’s mother’s dressing. The salon had already agreed to do it but just two days before the wedding, they told us they would only do it if we paid an extra Rs. 9,000. We felt this was very unfair and unprofessional. After all the waiting and stress we expected the bridal makeup to be beautiful. Sadly, it wasn’t. The eye makeup was not blended well (whole eye was black) and was extended too far, which did not look nice. Also it was shocking to see the foundation and makeup melting during the photoshoot. We were really disappointed. The most shocking part was when the makeup artist used a sponge on the flower girl that had visible fungus on it (I have attached a picture of the sponge). This is a serious hygiene issue and should never happen. After taking Rs 12,000 for a small flower girl if the salon cannot provide a clean or a new sponge for a client they should at least ask clients to bring their own. After charging so much for bridal services providing a clean sponge should not be a problem. At the end of the day, the bride and our whole family were very disappointed with the service. A wedding day is already stressful and a bridal salon should make the experience easier not more stressful. Sadly, we felt that the team cared more about making money than keeping their promises maintaining proper hygiene and giving good customer service. Based on our experience, I would not recommend Salon Chamya & Academy to anyone looking for bridal dressing services.
