My time at Sri Yoga Vidya has been both educational and personally enriching. The guru is approachable and supportive, and his teaching approach is exceptionally detailed, structured, and easy to follow. His ability to explain both the practical and philosophical aspects of yoga has helped me develop a much clearer understanding of various yogic principles than I had through my previous learning experiences. What particularly stood out to me at Sri Yoga Vidya was the way Raja Yoga and Hatha Yoga were taught with depth, clarity, and practical relevance. Without a doubt, Sri Yoga Vidya is one of the best places to learn authentic yoga in Kandy / Katugastota. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking genuine and a supportive learning environment. ⭐ 🙏

Sri Yoga Vidya Center is a very valuable place to learn traditional yoga. Since the day I came to Sri Lanka, I have attended yoga classes in various places. Almost all the yoga teachers in those classes only taught me to do some yoga poses back and forth. They did not teach me that the path of yoga is a deep spiritual path. However, the yoga guru at Sri Yoga Vidya Center taught me to see myself inside myself while sitting in a yoga asana. Not only that. While sitting in the asana, I was taught how to relax my body. While sitting in the asana, I was taught to pay attention to the senses that are dominant. I was also taught to observe my eyes, ears, nose, tongue, how the body is functioning and how the thoughts of the mind are functioning through meditation. This brought about a great transformation in my life. Through this, I understood the deep vision of the path of yoga very well.

I have been practicing Hatha Yoga in India for months. But not in the same way as the Hatha Yoga training taught by yoga guru Danula Munasinghe of Sri Yoga Vidya Center. The yoga guru who taught Hatha Yoga in India told me that just sitting in one asana for 30 seconds a day will cure the diseases of the body. That yoga guru taught me 09 types of yoga asanas and advised me to do those asanas every day. But my diseases did not get cured through that. When I went to yoga guru Danula Munasinghe, he gave me two asanas. He gave me Dhanurasana as the main asana and Pavanamuktasana as the opposite asana. He trained me in these two asanas very gently for about 40 minutes for four days. He also taught meditation. He taught me to see the mind through the body while doing these yoga asanas and to pay attention to the organs that are stimulated in the body while in the asana. Although yoga guru Danula Munasinghe is not a great English speaker, he teaches the asanas and meditation techniques very well. I have been doing the training he gave me for exactly 6 months now. My constipation, gastric and asthma have been cured. I have also felt very well that a mental transformation has taken place in me while practicing his meditation techniques. The best place I can recommend to learn yoga is Sri Yoga Vidya Center in Sri Lanka.

A very nice experience of Hatha Yoga in Sri Lanka. Combining all the aspects from Asana, Mudra, Bandha. pranayama and some philosophy. The studio is a bit away from the center but easily reached with transport. Though traffic can be busy. The studio is on the top floor. Signs are outside.

I am a tour guide. Two weeks ago, I came across Sri Yoga Vidya Center online. I was referred to it by a few foreigners. They told me that when they joined this yoga session, they realized that all the things they had learned about yoga, such as sweating, were just exercises, not yoga asanas. They told me that they realized that day that yoga asanas are not exercises, but a deep way of seeing the mind through the body. They also said that they learned that when you stay very gently in a yoga asana, you can see the mind through the body. They told me that the yoga teacher at Sri Yoga Vidya Center does not have the same excellent English speaking skills as they do, but he teaches very well. After hearing what they said, I wanted to join his yoga sessions. I am joining his yoga sessions now. His yoga practice has made a difference in my life these days. The reason for that difference must be the four-day meditation practice he taught.
