LAAMA GRAND WELLNESS KANDY

This massage parlour was recommended by my driver, and it turned out to be such a wonderful experience. The place itself had a very unique and beautiful ambience. We were warmly welcomed by Ron, whom I believe was the receptionist, and he was incredibly pleasant and friendly from the start. Michael and Michelle did our massages, and they were both very respectful, attentive, and kind throughout the session, constantly checking if the massage pressure was comfortable for us. The entire place was so aesthetic, and every staff member was truly hospitable. Even though it was close to their closing time, they still kindly waited for us to finish our dinner and return for the massage, which we deeply appreciated. Highly recommended!

Very professional and comfortable treatments in comfortable facilities. The enterance is small, but inside the venue is nicely decorated. My wife and I had a full body massage and we’re both impressed by the quality. Our children waited in the lobby and got a complementary fish spa for their feet. Great experience! Laama offers several types of massages, and treatments, and we would definitely come back next time we’re in Kandy.

There's no way this place is getting anything less than ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ from me! Possibly more stars... The atmosphere is relaxing from the moment you walk in! Then you're greeted with a homemade cool drink while you dunk your feet in a fish tank (tantalizing, isn't it?) And when it's your turn, you walk up through a soothing, organic-looking walkway to your room, following your masseuse. The room has a dim vibe and slow music playing in the back. Your bed is warm as you lay on it. I got a full hour of massage followed by a detox treatment in a hot tub (after a long spell of hiking that's exactly what the doctor ordered!) Tanya, my masseuse was profesional, very firm, and sweet to check on me every few minutes. I'm def coming back! For any visitors from outside the country, visit Kandy, just for this, some local Sri Lankan food, and then go home. You'll never regret it!! ❤️

⭐ 1/5 We visited LAAMA Grand Wellness Kandy after it was recommended by our hotel. We also checked the Google reviews beforehand, which looked very positive, and that gave us confidence to book. Unfortunately, our experience was completely different. My husband and I visited together with our friends (another couple). We booked the Ayurveda Voyage Package (120 minutes), which included: • 60-minute Ayurveda massage • 30-minute Indian head massage • 30-minute body scrub We paid LKR 42,000 per couple, and it was absolutely not worth the money. The only positive thing I can say is that the entrance and treatment rooms looked beautiful and created a good first impression. Unfortunately, the actual treatment and service were extremely disappointing. The spa insisted on taking full payment before the treatment started. Looking back, I can understand why. If we had experienced the treatment first, we would have left immediately and not paid. We were told that all therapists had between 5 and 9 years of experience. Based on our experience, this was very hard to believe. The treatments felt unprofessional, lacked proper technique, and did not provide the relaxing or therapeutic experience we expected. My friend and I were together while our husbands were together so we could chat during the treatments. We had all been travelling around Sri Lanka and were already suffering from back and body aches. We booked this treatment hoping to feel refreshed, relaxed, and relieved of our pain. Instead, the exact opposite happened. After the treatment, all four of us developed headaches, and our back and body pain felt worse than before. A spa treatment is supposed to help you feel better, not leave you feeling more uncomfortable. We were genuinely shocked by how bad we felt afterwards. The bathing facilities were also completely unacceptable. After the body scrub, we were told to take a bath, only to discover there was only one bathing area with very little privacy. For a wellness centre offering couple treatments and charging premium prices, private shower or bathing facilities should be standard. It was awkward, uncomfortable, and not what anyone would expect from a professional spa. To make matters worse, after the treatment we were offered nothing more than a small glass of water covered with cling film. I have travelled extensively and experienced spa treatments in many countries, including Thailand, where massage therapy is world-renowned. This experience did not come close to the standards I have experienced elsewhere. We trusted the hotel recommendation and the positive Google reviews, but this turned out to be one of the worst spa experiences we have ever had. The surroundings may look impressive, but the quality of the treatment itself was extremely poor. Some people may ask why we did not complain immediately after the treatment. The reason is simple: we were so disappointed and uncomfortable that we just wanted to leave the place as soon as possible. We had already paid the full amount upfront, and based on the way the business operates, we did not believe we would receive any refund or proper solution. We decided to leave rather than waste more time arguing after such a disappointing experience. Very unhappy customers. Completely overpriced, unprofessional, and not worth the money. Save your money and go elsewhere.
