This is heaven on earth. I had the most amazing 2 weeks at ulpotha. You can see that 30 years of care and thoughtfulness has gone into this space, making it an ideal getaway.
Our yoga teacher, Omaya was exceptionally good and we enjoyed every class.
The food was outstanding 👌 We didnt miss having the typical creature comforts, Ulpotha is a different kind of luxury, which cannot be found easily.
What an experience!

I have just left after a 2-week stay at the amazing Ulpotha yoga retreat. I can honestly say it is one of the best holidays I’ve ever had. It’s like you imagine paradise might be. The setting is stunning. You’re surrounded by nature in full force - the morning chorus is extraordinary - and you’re cared for by the kind and gentle local villagers who ultimately benefit from your stay. There is amazing yoga - we had Mika de Brito who was just so good - inclusive, funny, warm, challenging in the best way. There is an incredible Ayurvedic centre run by Dr Sri Lal, which I highly recommend for the incredibly relaxing and life-affirming treatments. The food was truly delicious and, while it is vegetarian or even vegan, I can’t tell you how scrumptious it was. So there’s yoga, there are Ayurvedic treatments, delicious food but also two amazing massage therapists available - we had wonderful Eva and wonderful Sophie. There’s also a slate-lined lake to swim in where the water is silky and almost body temperature. Hammocks galore to loll and read. So even more rest and relaxation. All this was coordinated and overseen by our marvellous host Molly, who had the perfect blend of guiding us and leaving us be. And last but not least you meet a wonderful array of new friends at Ulpotha, your fellow guests, with whom you bond. It is really is the most magical, magical place… I have never felt so calm, rested, peaceful and, yes, loved…
A magical retreat in the most beautiful setting in the middle of the jungle. Made all the more special by the amazing people whose smiles make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive a warm your heart. Without exception everyone who is involved at Ulpotha puts their heart and soul into ensuring everyone is made to feel welcome and at home. Molly was an amazing host whose calm and nurturing nature exuded warmth, whilst working tirelessly to ensure everyone’s stay ran smoothly. The huts were beautifully designed with comfortable beds, stunning bathrooms and creative mandalas adorning the entrance. The yoga twice a day in the stunning Shala surrounded by monkeys was heavenly and Samantha, our instructor, was the best I’ve ever had. The food was incredible and the Ayurvedic treatments were deeply restorative and so unique. Ulpotha is a place like no other. A true haven in the jungle whose magic will stay with you long after you leave. My only regret is that I didn’t stay longer but I will definitely be back!
I had the most amazing two week stay at Ulpotha in March. Everything from the people, the food, the yoga, the nature and animals - it was all magical. I was lucky enough to be there for the annual rice blessing ceremony which felt very special to be a part of. I’m grateful to have met the owners Viren and Giles, who were so kind, and a special thanks to Molly our incredible host. The whole village at Ulpotha looked after us to no end, I can’t wait to come back again soon!
Where to begin with my 2 week stay at Ulpotha….
It could be the incredible, nourishing food cooked over fires, from local organic produce…🥥
Or the serene atmosphere, filled with the sounds & sights of nature 🌱
Or the beautiful smiling faces, the villagers that live and breathe Ulpotha - allowing it to thrive through care and devotion.
Thank you to Malaika for hosting an incredible Elemental Flow & Dance retreat - her teaching was exceptional- rooted in decades of practice and wisdom.
Thank you Eva - who gave us beautiful Kahuna massages - you can feel the love in her fingertips !
Thank you to Sophie - our wonderful host - who made sure everyone’s needs were taken care of,
With gratitude & grace 🙏
